Article 12: Every child has the right to have a say in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously.
Article 29: Goals of education - Education must develop every child's personality, talents and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child's respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment.
We are a Unicef Rights Respecting School. The Rights Respecting School Award puts children's rights at the heart of schools in the UK.
We aim to be a safe and inspiring place to learn, where children are respected, their talents and nurtured and they are able to thrive.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life at Oscott Manor School and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.
At Oscott Manor School, in addition to our own highly skilled and qualified staff, we have access to an external team of professionals who are there to offer specialist advice and support to parents and carers
Most professionals work directly with class staff, enabling programmes of support to be delivered on a daily basis, in addition to often carrying out direct work with individual pupils and parents.
Where pupils have needs in addition to those arising from their primary diagnosis, and where additional support is required, school can make a referral to the appropriate service. Each service has a referral criteria and we will discuss your child with you in relation to the criteria for support. Not all children will need support from all of the services below.
To make a referral, you simply need to get in touch with us and we will support you through this process.
We are also able to signpost to more specialist services for advice, such as support for Drug and Alcohol Dependency, Domestic Violence and Advice re Benefits, when such needs arise.
